Faux-explosion Windows

StarBurst

Starburst Fruitfuls packs, designed for Mars by Australian design agency, Asprey Creative: more packaging with faux windows, along the same lines as ones mentioned at the end of our Die Cut Windows post from May. Here, however, the faux-window idea is combined with the wet-explosion concept, so that the packages appear to be hemorrhaging product—(but in a fun way!)

Maybe my idea for dissection-themed packaging windows is no so far-fetched, after all.

  1. upon closer inspection of “Care Package,” I spot ‘Lice a Roni,’ ‘ROTS’ candy, a box of ‘iffy’ muffin mix, and the package of ‘Bounce’ has breasts on it.
I wish the image was higher-res so I could see it all.

  2. Hey, thanks for commenting! Yes, I see that you are right. I wonder if this piece is based on Wacky Packs’ parodies…

It could be. I’ve also noticed a skewed Tony the Tiger on the right (next to ‘BUTT’) and what seems like a massive Crest toothpaste box to the left of the exlax package. Is it possible that this is a play on brands (Big Ben is a big guy on a little bicycle and—ahem—the bouncing breasts previously mentioned) and NOT a cube made of properly-sized packaging? Some of these things look huge in comparison to the Cap’n Crunch box.
Regardless, it’s pretty damn interesting and speaks to consumerism, Minimalism and its progeny.
