4 Cardboard Shoemakers

CardboardPackshoes

We’ve touched on the shoebox-as-shoe concept in he past, but shoes made out of cardboard may be a broader trend in its own right.

What should we call the practitioners of this craft? Cardboard shoemakers? Cardboard cobblers? Cardboard cordwainers? Whatever name we give it, I have 4 examples…

(More cardboard shoes, after the fold…)

JurjenSemeijn

1. The blue cardboard shoe with the shoebox lid sole is one of a series of cardboard shoe sculptures from Jurjen Semeijn’s “I Have Pop” studio in collaboration with shoe manufacturer, Solebox.

2. Chris Anderson made a corrugated cardboard replica of a Nike Air Force One sneaker and its shoebox as part of a larger project. (He has also made cardboard Vans)

MarkofBrien

3. Mark O’Brien’s cardboard shoes tend to be more along the lines of pointy dress shoes, although he’s also made cardboard sneakers. He’s made a whole series of shoes from beer packaging. Shoes made by him are available for purchase online. (Via: Unconsumption)

MikeLeavitt

4. Mike Leavitt makes realistic cardboard replicas of various brands of footwear. In addition to the cardboard Fila sandal, he has made cardboard versions of Nike, Converse, New Balance & Vans, among others.
